There's an orphan crisis. Somewhere between 135,000,00 and 185,000,000 children are waiting for homes. That's a crisis. But, to me, there's a bigger crisis behind the crisis. You want to know what it is??
INJUSTICE for the orphan.
The REAL crisis is that there are parents out there waiting, wishing, wanting to be the mommy and daddy that brings so many home and loves them and tucks them in at night. So why aren't they?
INJUSTICE
Some of them are trying. They've had the home study, paid the exorbitant fees, allowed the invasion into their private lives, gotten approval, been matched with children... So why aren't their kids at home??
INJUSTICE.
Parents prepare themselves and their homes. They willingly empty their own bank accounts and anyone else's who will help. They wait...and wait...and wait...
INJUSTICE
Children languish in orphanages not realizing there's a mommy and daddy praying and crying for their children to get to come home.
INJUSTICE.
Red tape and long *make no sense* processes keep great parents from beautiful children, children who desperately need to belong to a family.
INJUSTICE.
Governments with a list of *who knows what* on the agenda stand by and do nothing.
INJUSTICE.
Backed up courts are too busy to say *yes, go home*.
INJUSTICE.
American Embassies who become a stumbling block when they should be a help to Americans (speaking from my own experience on this one...not speaking for EVERY Embassy but certainly more than one)
INJUSTICE.
INJUSTICE.
INJUSTICE.
No, we don't want to see kids *sold.* GOD FORBID. No, we don't want bad people getting any children. But we have safeguards. And when the safe guards are exercised, why are the families still waiting? Why are the children still waiting? Sometimes MONTHS! Sometimes YEARS!
INJUSTICE.
Why are adoptions approved in court but parents still get back on the plane without their children?
INJUSTICE.
Why does a simple spelling error on one document delay a child's homecoming, sometimes SIGNIFICANTLY?
INJUSTICE.
How does this promote adoption? How does this encourage other great parents to step forward?
INJUSTICE.
What can we do to move governments and agencies to assist families coming together instead of hindering? There has to be a way! But I, for the life of me, don't know what it is.
"The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern." Proverbs 29:7
"Speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." Proverbs 31:8-9
"Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court, for the Lord will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them." Proverbs 22:22-23
It's the same here in the U.K Karen, and that's adopting within the same country. I hope and pray that it will be soon for you all. God bless you thi s Christmas.
