Fridays at Our Homeschool

On Fridays, you won't see a ton of book work happening here in our Homeschool.  Here's why...

I schedule very heavy days on Mondays and Tuesdays, normal (for us, anyway) on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and by Friday we may have one or two subjects (like Math and one other that was particularly heavy that week). This gives them Friday as a day to catch up if necessary OR even better, if they worked extra hard they could double up on Math one day and  whatever that "heavy subject" was and have Friday off.

To increase their motivation, I let them sleep in on Fridays and I let them have screens as soon as they are done with their schoolwork. Or, we'll make plans with friends or we'll go do something fun like catch a movie. One thing I love about homeschooling is that you can teach them that hard work pays off and you can earn time off.

It also helps me because often it affords time for me to get caught up on correcting papers and to prepare for the coming week!

I got this idea from a friend of mine who just started homeschooling all four of her children this year. I find I often get amazing ideas from new homeschoolers. They "come to the party" with fresh ideas!!

  1. I like this idea! It gives everyone something to look forward to at the end of the week. I know I am in need of some "down time" myself by the end of the week.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me a comment. :) It's just like opening the mailbox and seeing mail from a friend!
