First Day of School!!!

Our first official school day together.

School happened today!!! I had asked for prayer from the group of homeschoolers in my church the day before as I was feeling a bit lost. Today I decided to dive in and accept whatever happened. Life is messy and I can spend too much time trying to think about how to be neat and tidy and not actually "doing the thing!"

In the morning I got a good chance to meet with my two High Schoolers and discuss where they are and where they need to be and how we might get there. We reviewed Math (Geometry and Algebra 2 and bears, OH MY!) and I feel like they'll be back in the "thick of it" tomorrow.

Then in the afternoon I told my 4 littles not to leave the table after lunch (From our habit created in Nicaragua we have all 3 meals family style at the table! I don't know how long we can keep it up but it's great.) I brought out their grease boards and we worked on the days of the week in English and words like: yesterday, today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow. We did some Spanish/English flash cards and then worked on Math. I am trying to get a good idea of what they have done previously in Math. I am thinking through grade levels. Everyone paid attention and stuck to what they were suppose to do. My littlest who struggled to write when tutored in English in Nicaragua told me it was fun! :) That blessed me!

Basically it was just good to get my feet in the water and get moving! A little is a lot because the pain is in the starting! Don't you find that to be true? Goals can seem hard but once the ball is rolling it happens!

One of my favorite "momma verses":
"He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young." ~Isaiah 40:11

  1. Karen, so glad you all got home safely! I have been praying for this for so long. Now the adventure begins;) Looking forward to hearing how everything goes now that the new family members are settling in.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me a comment. :) It's just like opening the mailbox and seeing mail from a friend!
