How Long Will I Stay?

                                                                     *Nicaragua*

As many of you already know, in order to adopt children from Nicaragua, the gov't requires that you are a foster parent to the child/children you are adopting for 3 months. During that time, you will have 3 visits from Social Services to see how the children are adjusting to life with you.

While, in this "period of adaptation" your adoption is moving through the court system. BUT there is no guarantee that your ADOPTION will only take 3 months. As in any adoption, anything is possible. Honestly, this truth only just occurred to me recently that just because they ask you to stay there with the kids for 3 months doesn't mean that is how long the adoption will take...

This begs the question: How long will we live in Nicaragua?? The answer? Exactly as long as God wants us there!! And while I am there you officially have my permission to remind me of this fact!! ;)

I've expressed to my bio kids that we need to make a life for ourselves there rather than drumming our fingers, waiting to come home...

This week I've been thinking about Jesus coming to Earth with the intention to die for us and rise from the dead to ensure our ability to be *adopted* as sons of God and how it in a small way, mirrors what I am doing...

I leave my beloved home and will travel to another country...

He left a BETTER home to live among us...

I leave the comfort and ease of life in America...

He left ALL THE RICHES OF HEAVEN...

I will struggle not to grow impatient if I have to stay there as long as 6 months...

He stayed here for 33 YEARS...

I will stay there to parent my sweet children and wait for the paperwork to make it through the courts...

He has to SUFFER and DIE...

His sacrifice to secure my adoption was eternally greater than mine. Compared to him, I am doing nothing! He went before me and showed me how. He will understand when I cry out to him with frustration. I PRAY I can keep my eyes focused on him. I PRAY I can stay thankful and willing. "In my weakness, he is strong."

At each step I hear him whisper, "I did the same for you..."

Oh and he did MORE upon MORE!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~Hebrews 12:1-2
