Winter Blessings

I love winter. I love watching the snow fall, I love the anticipation of a storm coming. I love the family time when a storm hits and we're snowed in. I love cozy blankets and quiet nights at home. I love hot drinks: coffee, cocoa, tea. They taste better when it's cold.

I love snowy boots and taking snowy pictures and watching my snowy dog.

I love homeschooling in the winter. We tend to settle into our studies more. We get more done.

I love how my teens pursue hobbies that they'll put away when warm weather comes. Often, in their spare time, they are intent over a keyboard writing books. I love the creativity.

I love having time to declutter and organize the house. It feels good to lighten our load.

Soon enough spring will come and I'll be ready to welcome it gladly. But right now, today, I thank God for winter.

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning." Daniel 2:20-21

  1. What a beautiful picture, Karen! It looks like our backyard...it is snowing again this morning as I type this. But the wood stove is going...and it is comfy cozy warm inside. I've been baking goodies...and reorganizing my sewing room (which really really needed an overhaul after the holidays!)We are so thankful for the light coverings of snow. We also have a driveway covered in 4 inches of ice! But alas, mud season will be here before we know it!

    Have a warm and wonderful day!
    Love,
    Laura

  4. I liked winter when I was a kid. Then I stopped liking it when it changed from playing in it and shoveling it (or getting stuck in it!). Even though we get winter 6 months out of the year, I'm learning to appreciate it again.
    That's such a pretty picture, the way the sun rays are shining through the trees.

    1. Marg, I stopped liking snow and winter for many years too! One blessing of my back problems is that no one expects me to shovel! :) I am on "hot cocoa duty" which is much more enjoyable! heehee
      Thanks for stopping by!
