Decluttering and ...

I've added decluttering to my "problem solving" quest! Clutter can be a huge problem! My wish is to have lots of extra storage space that remains unused. Today I had planned to declutter and organize the linen closet upstairs. I want to paint the walls in there and get more shelving and such.

Well, I sabotaged myself when I decided to go through and declutter a baking supply basket in my kitchen while I cooked. You know how one thing leads to another...before I knew it I had declutter and wiped out all the top cabinets in my kitchen!! Not what I planned but it still feels good and now I have a box of stuff ready for donation.

I only took one "before pic" and it was of the worst cabinet!

So, before:
and after:
And, my coffee center:
(One of my "problem solving to-do's" will be to put one more shelf in this closet for tea and cocoa!)

The next cabinet is for cooking supplies. The stuff predominantly for baking I put on the left and other cooking supplies are on the right. The basket on the bottom middle has measuring supplies. In the middle of the middle shelf is my recipe box.
I have two other cabinets: one for dishes and one for casserole dishes and serving bowls. :)

A couple of days ago I decluttered and organized my bathroom/laundry shelves. I went through medicines and got rid of expired medicines. I removed items typical of summer like sunscreen and bug spray and packed them in the upstairs closet.

Not much more has happened in the "problem solving area", though I did manage to get a bigger box for our Christmas stuff as it did not fit in its original box.

It always feels so good to purge, organize and clean out closets and shelves. How much better it feels to purge and cleanse my heart and mind.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
~Psalm 139:23-24

"Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow."
~Psalm 51:7

  1. That happens to me to, but when you see how much room you have it is worth it.

  2. Good job! You have nice cabinet space. As for extra shelves, I found wire shelves at a Big Lots here, not sure if you have them up there. They are about a foot square and about 5-6 inches tall. I bought them to put in my china cabinet. Does help alot.
