...We Get Back Up Again...

It seems every year I am so looking forward to summer vacation that I kind of forget what an adjustment it is to go from a heavily scheduled day to no schedule at all. And as much as I try to set goals, I struggle to balance the *fun* and *what needs to get done*.

This week in particular, I've *landed* in a heap! I am overwhelmed with keeping up with the laundry, never mind the rest of what needs to be done. So, it's time to step back and refocus.

The truth is, I can think all I want about *living MY best life* and it's good to do that, but I have to remember that I live with 4 other people who have their own ideas of what makes a *good day* and a *best life*. So, we adjust. We live and learn and love together.

"...then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Philippians 2:2-3

Every day is a new day and a fresh start. I have to settle in my mind that I can't always get done everything I want to get done. I have my goals and lists in front of me and I'll check things off as I go and be content to keeping plugging away at it.

Today I am going to conquer Mt. Washmore (laundry), make a quick trip to the grocery store while my son is at his eye appt., try to create some fun for the kids in the afternoon, be thankful to visit a friend tonight who is going to teach me how to use The Homeschool Tracker (which I purchased to help keep homeschooling organized).

As the mom, I often feel like air traffic control, helping to maneuver each member of the family through their day and helping them to go to bed at night satisfied with a good day. And I am happy to help them. But there are those times when my jets are flying in circles and threatening to crash into each other. It's never a bad thing to ground them all and refocus!

"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

"For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, 'Do not fear, for I myself will help you.'" Isaiah 41:13

  2. Mt. Washmore... I've scaled it so many times you would think I could handle it my sleep. Yet it is ever-looming there before me. Mocking, "you'll never make it to the top (bottom actually)!"

    Blessings, Debbie
