The Homeschool Mother's Journal

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…This was our week to get back in the groove. However with most everyone else on spring break and then with my students coming down with colds we didn't get as much done as I had hoped. But homeschool is a marathon, not a sprint right??

In our homeschool this week…We decided to jump to Rome in our Ancient History studies. I love studying how God moved to prepare the world for Messiah!!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…Always remember you have more to teach and to offer to your kids than just academics. We tend to judge our year by how many books we completed. We panic when we didn't meet THOSE goals. But how about goals to teach our kids to reach a dying world, to think beyond themselves, to dream big and reach high? Life is more than books and curriculum. If we spend all day with our noses in a book, we're missing it.

I am inspired by…people who just sell everything and leave everything to reach the world with the hope found in Jesus. They trust God for provision and move without a safety net. That is TRUE COURAGE!!

My favorite thing this week was…Hearing all the stories coming back from my husband's trip to Nicaragua. Talking to him and others from the team has been so exciting!

Things I’m working on…I am planning how we will finish out our homeschool year!!

I’m reading…I just finished "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God" by Lysa Terkheurst. I am reading "Stand by Me" by Neta Jackson and "Fields of the Fatherless" by Tom Davis.

I’m cooking…Last night we had chicken enchiladas. I'm out of gas for my grill so hope to remedy that today!

I’m grateful for…God never gives up on me. Every day is a new opportunity to listen to Him and do what He says.

I’m praying for…God to move in my family, through my kids, and that we would live and move trusting Him and giving up our safety nets!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…I'll call it "Hope on Wheels". This was the bus from Messiah Project that brought the team to the villages each day!

  1. It's that time of year, huh? Pondering the end of one year and the beginning of another! If only I could figure out curriculum! LOL
