Snowy Day

Today we woke up to snow, happily so. We all woke up a little late this morning. I was up at 7 a.m. and then Robin woke up the kids and we were all at the table by our normal 7:30 a.m. for Devotions. We're reading through the book of Isaiah and I have been enjoying it very much! Today I think we were in chapter 50. Then it was time to make sure everyone knew their school assignments and to get started on them.

I come to the table complete with my laptop, Bible, journal, whatever book I am reading, and today with the index card holding the memory verse that must be memorized by Saturday (to meet my goal). This way I can be at the table ready to help with schoolwork when needed, but still have something (or lots of things) that I can do. I sneak away once in awhile shortly to put in more loads of laundry, to do some dishes, or to tidy an area. But mostly I am at the table.

I wasn't need much today from 8-11 a.m. (except for a couple of random math equations and 2 troublesome Greek sentences being translated), so I had lots of time to get things done, to blog, to read. At 11, Tyler (17) and I worked on some music. Then lunch and after lunch it was back to the books.

Everyone was done by 2 p.m., and since it was a "snow day" I let them have "screens early" and we rented a movie from our cable company, "A Christmas Carol" (the new Disney one). I have to say, the move was "okay". I enjoyed it all right but it was a bit "same old, same old."

It's been a relaxing day. I love a snow day. I love to watch it fall, I love to watch the dog romp around, I love to watch my younger son get all his snow clothes on to "blaze a trail" down the small hill behind our house, I love that we are all home and will stay home, I love to turn the outside Christmas lights on even though it is waaaay past Christmas. We take pictures of it (I'll share some tomorrow) like it looks different from every other time it snows! :) We can't help ourselves! It's a quiet day, a cozy day, a comfortable day. Bliss...
