Shakin' in My Boots

An awesome summer is showing signs of winding down. Cooler nights, lengthening shadows, and school shopping bring with it signs of the changing season. I do love fall...but...

...thoughts of how to properly homeschool all six of my seven kids that are still home has me shaking in my boots. 1rst, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th and 11th grade are the grades I'll teach this year! We've talked over and prayed over different educational plans and area schools. For right now, homeschooling is the open door. We really don't see other plans that fit our family.

I know all the answers concerning grouping kids together for various subjects, changing up the teaching style to include more grades, delight learning, etc., etc... I've given those answers to overwhelmed moms. But at the end of the day, reality hits and it comes down to this:

"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." ~Philippians 4:19

The truth behind those few short words make all the difference. When this school year is behind me and I look at how it all got done, it will be because I walked in obedience doing what God called me to do and he gave me his enabling power!

On this side of the journey I am clinging like crazy to the God of all power and wisdom, trusting his plan and his love for me, his love and his plan for my children. I've walked long enough with him to know better than to give in to the stress and anxiety of what lies ahead. But the work and energy required for clinging is still very great. When I lose my focus on him I quickly sink. I go to sleep clinging, I wake up clinging.

And for the record, I've listened to this song that reminds me to trust three times so far this morning...  :)
